On-Farm Event – March 21st

Regular price$137.00
/

This event is like we are inviting you to our house and showing you around, except our house is a 500-acre farm. We are going to spend the day together talking about all the things.

And I'm making you lunch, a Hungarian beef stew with a big hunk of sourdough. The lunch is free. Homemade food in a big pot and we will eat it together at picnic tables in our Feed & Seed barn overlooking a pasture that was once a terra cotta pot and now grows a carpet of verdant pasture. We will have well water available. BYO bottles.

Because we're inviting you to our house, we serve you as friends and you can ask us anything about anything.

Here's the schedule:

8a-8:30a welcome

8:30a-11a pasture walk with Suzanne: silvopasture, organic matter, seeding — bring your walking shoes that can get a little wet and a water bottle and a hat, we go rain or shine

11a-12p tubing and IV demo with DrK

12p-1:30p lunch and Q&A

1:30p-2p selah

2p-4p bull talk and walk: hang out with 40 of our bulls, see how we move with and through them and discussion on the nurture/nature of raising Jersey boys

4p-6:30p evening chores: go with Suzanne to move the heifers and dry cows and talk about grazing and husbandry — or go with DrK and do the evening barn chores separating cows from calves, milking a few fresh cows and doing any treatments, etc.

6:30p-9p bonfire, stories and sharing — this is not going to be a small fire; Vivian is making homemade marshmallows, and we will supply graham crackers, BYO chocolate & picnic dinner

Fine print: This event will be recorded and available for later purchase. Attendees will get the recording for free. We do not have a vegetarian/non-beef option for lunch, but you can order amazing food from the Saxapahaw General Store or Eddy Pub for lunch and bring it to the barn to eat. Ordering in the morning for lunch pickup time recommended, as Saxapahaw sometimes gets quite busy on the weekends. You can walk to the village from the event barn on the farm through a farm and public trail. It is about a 15-20 min walk. You will get an email with your ticket(s), but it may not arrive immediately after purchase. Children under 16yo are free, but please use discretion about disrupting the program for others.
